Brian Rice advises businesses on corporate transactions, governance, commercial agreements, and day-to-day legal issues, helping clients make informed business decisions while managing legal risk. Drawing on nearly 15 years of experience in private practice, in-house leadership, and government service, Brian provides practical, business-minded counsel that helps clients move forward with confidence.
Before joining Elam & Burke, Brian served as Managing Counsel and Corporate Secretary for a venture-backed financial technology company, where he advised executive leadership and the board of directors on a wide range of legal and business matters. He negotiated complex commercial agreements and strategic partnerships, oversaw corporate governance and legal operations, and managed outside counsel. He later served as a Deputy Attorney General for the State of Idaho, advising the Idaho State Tax Commission on individual and corporate income tax matters and representing the agency in administrative and appellate proceedings. Earlier in his career, Brian practiced with law firms representing businesses, developers, investors, and real estate clients in a variety of transactional matters.
Brian earned his J.D. from the University of Michigan Law School and began his legal career in the Pacific Northwest before relocating to Idaho in 2020. Having spent much of his career working alongside business executives, he understands that clients need more than legal analysis. They need practical advice they can act on. Brian is known for his ability to translate complex legal issues into clear, concise guidance that supports business objectives and helps leadership teams make sound decisions.
Outside the office, Brian enjoys spending time with his wife and children, coaching youth sports, playing tennis, and enjoying Idaho’s outdoor lifestyle.
