Joshua D. Johnson is a trial lawyer focused on commercial litigation. He represents businesses and business owners in a wide range of matters, including contract disputes, business and shareholder conflicts, estate and trust litigation, and other complex civil cases, as well as handling insurance defense matters. Over the course of his career, Josh has tried more than 100 cases to verdict across a wide range of subject areas.
Josh earned his J.D. from The John Marshall Law School in Chicago, where he served as a staff editor on The John Marshall Law Review. He began his legal career in Chicago, litigating personal injury, commercial disputes, and aviation-related matters before moving to Boise and becoming a partner at Racine Olson. After more than a decade in private practice, Josh joined the Oregon Department of Justice, where he represented the State of Oregon in child abuse and neglect cases.
Josh’s background spans commercial disputes, estate-related litigation, insurance defense, administrative hearings, and government enforcement matters, giving him a balanced perspective on both the private and public sides of litigation. Clients value Josh’s ability to evaluate cases early, prepare them thoroughly, and move them efficiently toward resolution, while remaining fully prepared to try cases when necessary.
Outside the office, Josh enjoys time with his family and being outdoors, whether skiing or camping. He also remains active through endurance sports, occasionally competing in triathlons alongside his wife, who is a nationally ranked triathlete as well as a member of the Team USA cycling team.
